Cotton prices witness continued gains
During the week ended July 4, 2002 cotton prices showed a more or less upward trend.

Global yarn output breaks its two-year downtrend
World yarn production halted its seven-quarter decline in the first quarter of 2002, but output remained close to a three-year low.

Govt announces package of incentives for jute industry
Government has announced a package of incentives for modernisation of the jute sector including an upfront subsidy of 15 per cent on machinery and equipment as well as extension of DEPB benefits to more jute items such as yarn, hessian cloth and sacking bags.
