ALT Training College: An institution with a difference
Vijaya K - Bangalore

Known for its talent and knowledge base in various segments like information technology, biotechnology, healthcare etc, Bangalore the capital city of Karnataka, does not lag behind even in terms of apparel training institution. Apparel and Leather Technics (ALT) a company with over two decades of expertise in the apparel, knitwear and leather industry, instituted the ALT Training College (ALT-TC) completely equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and machinery in the year 1986. One of the world’s largest apparel, knitwear and leather training college, ALT-TC is playing a pivotal role in preparing highly trained manpower for the industry to develop perfect compatibility between and machine. The College is affiliated to the Bangalore University and is recognised by the Government of Karnataka. India has been known for centuries for its traditional colours, textiles and apparel. The ALT Training College was instituted to take these traditions worldwide and translate them into commercial benefits for India. “The apparel, knitwear and leather industry in India has come of age and is already occupying a prestigious position in the international market scenario. The ALT Training College is the beacon of light and a channel for career building”, says Col Ganganna Nijampure, principal, ALT Training College.

Using a perfect blend of theory and practicals in curriculum and matchless opportunities to interact with experts from the industry, the college provides hands-on experience in on-site training across the country. Since its inception in 1986, the college has been consciously investing in training facilities to promote industrial growth. “Our courses are on par with international standards structured after extensive research and development” adds Col Ganganna. The main objectives of the college include training students on machines and the methodology of today’s advanced technology, better opportunity for students to compete globally, in-house training, providing skilled manpower in collaboration with industry leaders and provide a better platform for research and development. Qualified and experienced faculty impart quality training to the students using simple sewing machines to advanced Computer Aided Design programs. Students are also exposed to on-job training in those companies who interact with ALT for machines. These companies look for trained manpower and once they complete their course and training the companies shortlist the students and offer them placements. Says Col Ganganna, “The uniqueness of our institute is that we are one of the three colleges in the world who has in house production facility in the campus. The students are given opportunities to practice that is taught in the classroom.”

ALT Training College closely interacts with the industry by way of providing manpower and machines through its parent company. The college which enjoys autonomous status, except for degree course, revises syllabus of its other courses it offers, to meet exclusive needs of the industry in the country and abroad taking into consideration various technologies. “Our parent company ALT imports any machine that is manufactured in the world. The academic facility is benefited when student get to know about latest technologies coming in”, Col Ganganna reveals. The students are provided a forum for interaction with foreign and industry experts in India by way of organising seminars, workshops and lectures. ALT Training College has started its Information Technology Training Division at Bangalore and Tirupur. The ALT production unit equipped with the state-of-the-art machinery has set a high standard of productivity record in the country with a productivity record 22 shirts per machine per day.

ALT represents the top manufacturers of the world in the field of Apparel Machinery and caters to the garment industry’s requirement as a one-stop solution provider.
