has not purchased cotton in Jalgaon division

The
Maharashtra State Cooperative Cotton Marketing Corporation (MSCCMC)
has clarified that it has not purchased any cotton in Jalgaon division
this season.
However,
spinning mills and ginning and pressing factories have purchased
about 2000 quintals of cotton, MSCC Growers Marketing Pvt Ltd zonal
manager Mr Madhukar Pisal told reporters.
As
per state government’s new policy for 2002-2003 season, permission
has been given to coooperative as well as private spinning mills,
cotton mills, ginning and pressing factories and Cotton Corporation
of India to purchase cotton not below the guaranteed price, of Rs
2100 to Rs 2200 per quintal,he
said.
Traders
at Burhanpur in Madhya Pradesh near Jalgaon also have started purchasing
cotton and cotton growers were receiving Rs 2050 to Rs 2075 per
quintal, Mr Pisal said adding Jalgaon division comprised of Jalgaon,
Dhule, Nandurbar and Nasik districts.
