Power tariff hike would lead to closure of small spinning units

Agencies - Coimbatore

Another hike in power tariff would prove to be a “death knell” to the small spinners in Tamil Nadu, according to the South India Small Spinners Association (SISSPA).

The spinners were already facing crisis due to the frequent increase in power rates and levy of 20 per cent

additional charges for power consumed during peak hours, which accounted for 16 per cent of cost of production, the SISSPA president Mr R Chinniyan told reporters.
