Sanghis to expand textile base in south India

The Sanghi group is a leading industrial group in south Indian with its operations primarily based at Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh. The core competency of this group is textiles arena where they are looking for future expansion.

The Sanghi group is diversifying into cement and captive power generation. The group has achieved and maintained industrial excellence and laid a strong foundation for dynamic group activities with an asset base of $450 million.

The group operations are based in Sanghi Nagar, a self contained industrial township, 28 kms from Hyderabad. Apart from the group’s manufacturing facilities at Sanghi Nagar similar facilities exist at the other Sanghi townships in Gujarat (cement project) and Assam (paper project). The group is promoted by Mr Ramsharan Sanghi (chairman) and his sons, Mr Anand Prakash Sanghi, Mr Sudhir Sanghi, Mr Ravi Sanghi and Mr Girish Sanghi.

The group’s state-of-the-art polyester plant incorporates the world’s latest technology for poly-condensation, direct spinning and high speed draw twisting and texturising. This plant, set-up in technical collaboration with Kohap of South Korea, is the first of its kind in AP and boasts of several unique features. The product range covers a broad spectrum of yarns from 30 deniers to 250 deniers in POY, Flat, Texturised and Twisted varieties. The company has achieved a turnover of Rs.3784.20 million for the financial year ended March, 2002. The capacity of the plant was increased from 15,000 to 65,000 tpa.

Sanghi Polyesters (SPL), an ISO 9002 & ISO 14001 company, has the distinction of being awarded the “Safety Award” by the British Safety Council, London for four consecutive years since 1992. SPL is currently having about 200,000 shareholders with it’s shares listed in all the major stock exchanges in India and the Luxembourg Stock Exchange. Apart from being the third largest manufacture of polyester filament yarn in the country, with 65,000 tpa capacity SPL is a trendsetter in the quality of the product in the industry. Sanghi Spinners India is a cotton yarn unit set up with international standards having ISO 9002 and ISO 14001 Certification. With a capital outlay of $ 85 million, this mega spinning project of 100,000 spindles incorporates the world’s best state-of-the-art plant and machinery from reputed manufacturers in Germany, Japan and Switzerland. It is equipped with the latest testing and quality control facilities, making it the largest cotton yarn project in India which is 100% E.O.U

The unique concept of ‘no-touch’ is essentially a superior process technology, which ensures no human contact, from the feeding of raw material to packaging. This results in a very high quality cotton yarn, maintaining a consistency level of under Uster 5% for all types of yarn.

Entire mill is computerised for centralised on-line control of quality and production. The Government of India, Ministry of Commerce, has awarded the prestigious “Trading House Recognition” to Sanghi Spinners.

Other awards include Highest Export Turnover Award from Visakhapatnam Export Processing Zone, 1st Best Exporter Award from Commissionerate of Industries (Commerce and Export Promotion Wing), AP government, Highest Exports Among 100% EOUs in the State from the Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FAPCCI), Hyderabad, and Best Export Performance Award from The All India Industrial Exhibition Society, Hyderabad.

The Sanghi Textiles, established in 1979 with a wide process capacity, is one of the largest independent textile processing houses in the country with an ISO 9001 Certification. Its processing capacity has multiplied six fold to 60 million meters of cloth per annum.

The versatile unit incorporates a computerised garment dyeing plant that facilitates dyeing made ups as well as a whole range of treatment to stitched garments like acid washing, stone washing, etc. to cater to the changing demands of fashion.

Some of the other industries under the group’s umbrella include leather and plastic products unit, cements, newspapers, zip fasteners, threads, filaments and fibre.
