Suryalakshmi : Spinning a golden future with world class products

In the East, denim jeans are generally worn by youth. But in the West, everybody wears denims. There is a huge market out there for denims. To cater to the growing needs of the denim-wearing population, the Secunderabad-based Suryalakshmi Cotton Mills set up its state-of-the-art plant at Ramtek near Nagpur in Maharashtra.

Suryalakshmi Cotton Mills, established in 1962 with 6000 spindles for manufacture of cotton and blended yarns, has today grown into a spinning mill that produces world-class products with 61,872 spindles. Apart from its Ramtek unit, Suryalakshmi has two other units at Mahabubnagar and Amanagallu in Andhra Pradesh to spin products like 100% cotton yarn,polyester / viscose, mélange and fancy yarns. Suryalakshmi offers a wide product mix with international standards, including counts ranging up to Ne 40s.

Suryalakshmi, which is strategically located close to the cotton growing areas, also produces yarn for hosiery or weaving in both carded and combed varieties. In denims, the company offers a wide range of products like basics, slubs, tussores, cotton/polyester, lycra and other fancy value-added denim. The company has built a wealth of R&D expertise in cotton and a well-equipped testing laboratory ensures stringent quality control.

Suryalakshmi is committed to provide quality yarn and denim to the textile and clothing industry, develop and sustain relationships with its clientele, employees and shareholders.

Suryalakshmi is planning to boost its denim production from the current 10.2 million metres to 15 million metres per annum. In this endeavour, employing the sophisticated rope dyeing technology, Suryalakshmi has spinning machines from Trutzschler and Schlafhorst, Indigo Rope Dyeing and finishing range from GMC and Nissan air jet Nax 100 looms to produce superior denim.

With a strong marketing presence backed by a transnational network, Suryalakshmi believes in offering quality products to its clientele.

Over the years, the company’s exports to markets across Europe, Asia and America have been growing. In 2001-2002 fiscal, the company’s exports was Rs 465 million, constituting about 25% of the total turnover.
