welcomes FM’s decision on powerlooms, garments
The finance minister, Mr Jaswant Singh, with the passage of
the Finance Bills, has exempted from excise duty unprocessed fabrics
and unbranded, woven and knitted readymade garments up to the first
clearance of Rs 25 lakh manufactured by handlooms with a turnover
of Rs 30 lakh.

KVIC’s
biggest showroom being given a facelift
The Khadi and Village Industries Commissions (KVIC) biggest
showroom in the national capital, which once played host to Queen
Elizabeth and Duke of Edinburgh, is being given a facelift at the
cost of about Rs 2.5 crore.
