Maharashtra NGO develops system to prevent bollworm disease in cotton
Even as c5ontroversy has erupted in China on the use of genetically modified (GM) Bt cotton seeds and its after-effects, a section of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in Maharashtra have come up with innovative nursery and soil management system, which they claim could help farmers reduce costs and used to avoid the dreaded bollworm disease that the recently cleared Bt cotton seeds claim to protect.

Expert group calls for naphtha duty cut, phasing out Jute Act
An expert group on petrochemicals recently recommended doing away with the Jute Packaging Materials Act (JPMA), cut in import duty on naptha and excise duty rationalisation on synthetic fibre and yarns.
