Garment exporters write to FM on excise registration

Agencies - New Delhi

In the face of excise registration required for powerloom units with turnover more than Rs 30 lakh, garment exporters have asked the government to take remedial measures.

The All India Garment Exporters Common Cause Guild, in a letter to the finance minister Mr Jaswant Singh, has sought clarification on account of confusion generated by this requirement. They said that large number of notifications since April 1 did not describe the required simple roadmap for operation of garment exports from stage one of buying fabric to its processing, value additions and final exports.
