No MDA for individual exporters

Agencies - New Delhi

The government has withdrawn the market development assistance (MDA) for sale-cum-study tours of individual exporters. However, sale-cum-study tours of groups, councils and boards will continue to receive assistance, official sources said.

Out of about a total MDA of Rs 45 crore, nearly Rs 25 crore was being spent on individual sales-cum-study tours. The move is expected to bring about more focus in the study tours taken in a group or organised by the councils as they were more organised, sources said.

Better days ahead
The recent rally in textile counters was overdue for some time now. The domestic industry is certainly turning around, if one goes by the financial performance of textile companies for the fiscal ended March 2003.
