The
onset of globalisation with its fusion of cultures, calls for convergent
thinking in the area of Communications and Graphic Design. Pearl
Academy of Fashion introduces a four years full time B.A (Honours)
Degree in Communication Design in August 2003, the collaboration
for which is in progress with Nottingham Trent University (NTU),
UK.
Nottingham
Trent University is one of the worlds highly recognized and
renowned institutes known for imparting fashion and retail education.
The degree in Communication Design will be validated by NTU.
This
undergraduate degree aims at imparting education in the field of
print and digital media. Pearl Academy will nurture the aspiring
professionals to orient themselves as Assistant Art Directors, Web
Page and Multimedia Designer, Typographist, Illustrator in the corporate
and government sectors, design firms, advertising agencies, film
studios or as freelancers.
The
four years programme comprising of eight semesters is distinguished
by its integration of theory, practice and exploration of appropriate
methods and technology in identifying and solving communication
problems and issues creatively. The students will be provided with
a broad base exposure to graphic design issues, a comprehensive
understanding of the functioning of the communication industry,
with a special emphasis on print and electronic media and an opportunity
to develop a personal style.
B.A
in Communications Design also enables alumni to work in the print
or the visual media or to launch their own business or to pursue
further studies into the Masters level programme in leading design
institutions in Europe, Australia and the United States.
