FIEO to organise buyer-seller meet at Riyadh, Dammam & Jeddah

Agencies - Kolkata

The Federation of Indian Export Organisation (FIEO) has decided to organise buyer-seller meets at the three major business centers of Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam in Saudi Arabia from September 12 to 23.

The FIEO president Mr M Rafeeque Ahmad said there was a great prospect for export of multi-product consumer items to the region which included fabrics, readymade garments, yarn, powerloom, handloom, silk, synthetic and rayon textiles, handicrafts, leather garments, footwear & leather accessories, chemical & allied products, bulk drugs, plastic and linoleum, agro products and sport goods.

He said a FIEO delegation of multi-fibre products visited Saudi Arabia from May 31 to June 9. The delegation visited Riyadh, Dammam and Jeddah and met around 500 Saudi businessmen where the buyer-seller meets and the display of the products were organised by FIEO.

The visit was a success which concluded with prospective business of US$ 1.5 million besides a large number of trade enquiries. “At present there are great opportunities available for Indian products to formulate new initiatives and investments in various Saudi ventures. The Saudi Arabian market could be formed as a regional hub for supplies to other Gulf countries,” Mr Ahmad said.
