New business forum for fibre and yarn industry

Yarn Expo to be part of the inaugural Beijing Textile Arena 2004

As of Spring 2004, the international fibre and yarn industry will have a brand new business platform in China, the ‘Yarn Expo’, scheduled to be held for the first time from March 31 - April 2 at the Beijing National Agricultural Exhibition Centre. The Yarn Expo will provide a unique opportunity for fibre and yarn manufacturers to exhibit their latest fibre and yarn collections in one of China’s leading fashion and design centres.

By offering a broad selection of fibr and yarn, the show will attract thousands of textile manufacturers and fashion industry professionals from north and north-eastern China eager to strike up business, source new products and discuss the latest technological developments with their industry colleagues. “Foreign manufacturers can find huge opportunities in the Chinese market, where the demand for imported textile products far outstrips domestic supply. With its massive volume of textile and garment production, China is now one of the biggest importers of fibres, yarns and fabrics from around the world,” says Katy Lam, director of trade fairs for Messe Frankfurt in Hong Kong. “The Yarn Expo will cater to the entire fibre and yarn industry, producers of yarns for apparel textiles, home textiles, upholstery and interiors will all be exhibiting at the show.”

This new event will be organised by Messe Frankfurt and the Sub-Council of Textile Industry - CCPIT, together with industry experts: China Cotton Textile Association, China Wool Textile Association, China Chemical Fibre Association, China Bast & Leaf Fibres Association and China Textile Information Centre. The Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council of India (Texprocil) is the overseas supporting organisation.

The first Yarn Expo in Beijing will be a part of the inaugural ‘Beijing Textile Arena’ scheduled to run for the first time in Spring 2004, adding value for exhibitors and buyers. Supported by the China National Textile Industry Council (CNTIC) the Beijing Textile Arena will comprise four major events in the textile and garment industry calendar:

  • Yarn Expo - an exhibition for fibres & yarns, organised by Messe Frankfurt and CCPIT-Tex, to be held at the National Agricultural Exhibition Centre from 31 March - 2 April
  • Intertextile Beijing - an exhibition of apparel fabrics & accessories, organised by Messe Frankfurt and CCPIT-Tex since 2001, to be held at the Beijing Exhibition Centre from 31 March - 2 April
  • CHIC - China’s largest exhibition for garments (ladieswear and menswear) and fashion accessories, to be held at the China International Exhibition Centre from 30 March - 7 April
  • Knitting Fair - an exhibition focusing on knitted garments, to be held at the National Agricultural Exhibition Centre from 31 March - 2 April.

The Beijing Textile Arena will be the definitive event of the year for the apparel industry in China, where manufacturers and buyers will be able to source anything and everything from fibres to fabrics and finished garments.
