FICCI’s textile conference on Sept 16, 2003

The Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry
(FICCI), western region, is organising Textile Conference - 2003
in association with the government of Maharashtra, on September 16, 2003 in
Mumbai.
The main objective of the conference is to analyse
the cause of the exodus of textile industry from Maharashtra to other states
and to arrive at a consensus to arrest this outflow. Also, the post quota regime
effects on the textile industry in Maharashtra will be discussed at length,
according to a FICCI statement. The conference is expected to provide a platform
for participants to interact with the government and the industry, to gain insights
on emerging textile technologies, financial support extended by institutions,
labour laws, international standards and government policies among others.
The Union textiles minister, Mr Syed Shahnawaz Hussain
will be the chief guest for the programme. The minister of textiles, government
of Maharashtra, Mr Vilasrao Balakrishna Patil and the state minister for textiles,
Mr Prakash Awade, will also share their vision at the conference.
Speakers at the conference include among others, Mr
S B Mohapatra, secretary, Union textiles ministry, Mr Subodh Kumar, textile
commissioner, Mr Ashok Khot, principal secretary, government of Maharashtra,
Mr Ashok Rajani, vice chairman, Apparel Export Promotion Council, Mr R K Das,
joint chief executive officer, MIDC, Mr V Y Tamhane, secretary general, Millowners
Association, Mr Prem Mallik, managing director, Mafatlal Group, Mr M K Bardhan,

SASMIRA. Experts from SIDBI, IDBI and KPMG will also
share their views on the occasion. |
