M H Kotak conferred Poland’s prestigious award

Mr Madhusudan H Kotak, ex-director of M/s Kotak Group of companies has been conferred Poland’s most prestigious civilian award ‘The Commanders Cross of The Order of Merit of The Republic of Poland’ by HE Mr Aleksander Kwasniewski, president of the Republic of Poland. The award was presented by Dr Majka, ambassador of the Republic of Poland, in Mumbai. Earlier Mr Kotak had been recipient of the medal of ‘Rady Panstwa’ in 1989 that was renewed in 1995. He has also received the Polish Emblem and Tie Pin from the first president of the Republic of Poland, HE Mr Lech Walesa.

The award is in recognition of Mr Kotak’s outstanding contribution to the all round co-operation between Poland and India in various fields, particularly economic ties between the two countries. He is the first Indian to receive this honour. During the last 45 years, Mr Kotak has visited Poland about 180 times.

Mr Kotak has held important positions in Indo-Poland, Indo-Yugoslav, Indo-Croatia, Indo-Romania and Indo-USSR Chambers and Councils, and also in various export promotion councils and federations in India. Kotak and Company have made immense contribution over the last 75 years in the field of cotton, cotton textiles, cotton yarn, garments, handicrafts, oil, oilseeds, etc and have been pioneers in introducing large number of export items in East European countries.
