New interactive fashion awareness from Lenzing

Lenzing Lyocell presents a new fashion CD which depicts all the natural functions of the fibre itself.

Lenzing has successfully asserted its position as the world leader in cellulose fibre technology by extending its role in the textile industry. QISS is the catchword abbreviating the basic attitudes orienting to the customer who benefits from the most important factors behind Lenzing’s success, namely quality, innovation, service and sustainibility.

It is difficult to explain complex physiological properties such as moisture transportation on paper. Lenzing has tried to visualise the processes involved in a simple way using computer animations- to make these easier to understand. The complex factors which produce this exceptional fibre are explained simply and quickly by a new CD from Lenzing - "Natural Intelligence. The Comfort to Be."

For the first time animations have made it possible to explain to the end consumer in detail what processes actually happen when we are wearing a shirt and what effect this has on the well-being of us as individuals.

Separate information terminals are planned for the retail sector with an interactive CD. It will be possible to rent these from Lenzing on request. This means that in the future explaining breathing properties to customers will be easy to understand. The new CD will be presented at the fabric trade fairs in Paris in autumn for the first time.

Complicated details animated and simplified

The new functional CD from Lenzing explains the natural functions of Lenzing Lyocell in simple terms. The influence of skin sensory analysis and moisture absorption on the well-being of the user is explained in clear and simple terms using different applications such as shirts, blouses, lingerie and sportswear.

Physiological background - made easy

Good wear comfort is achieved by the following alternating parameters: the body’s temperature, the climate and clothing. To what extent heat transportation takes place depends on the one hand on the ambient temperature and on the other hand on the thermal insulation of the clothing itself, and this in turn has an effect on the well-being of the individual. Lenzing Lyocell offers optimum pre-requisites for excellent heat transportation which is demonstrated on the new animated Lenzing CD using different articles of clothing.

Refreshing and cool in the summer

A Lenzing Lyocell shirt controls the body’s temperature better than a traditional shirt of cotton. Tests carried out at the Hohenstein Institute showed that all the well-being factors, such as moisture transportation and the water absorption capacity, are higher than in cotton.

For example water vapour absorption is up to 130 per cent higher with Lenzing Lyocell. As a result the fabric feels cool - there is no unpleasant build-up of heat in the summer.

Smooth surface - good for sensitive skin

When it comes to lingerie, an important fctor for well-being is the textile’s contact with the skin. Lenzing Lyocell snuggles up to the skin to perfection thanks to its smooth fibre surfac and high flexibility, i.e. it does not scratch - you can barely feel the fabric - which makes it ideal for sensitive skin types.

Dry and warm - even in the cold season

The use of Lenzing Lyocell as a filling fibre in the clothing sector is new. Until now non-wovens were used at low temperatures for thermal insulation i.e. following physical exertion the moisture left cools the body down to a considerable extent. And in this respect Lenzing Lyocell can offer its assistance. It absorbs the moisture during physical exertion and releases this again on the outside. This helps us stay warm and dry.

Fabric and product developments will be presented which demonstrate that moisture absorption and good breathing properties play an enormous role when it comes to the body’s own performance.

Edit
Gearing up for future contingencies
It is high time that the domestic industry formulate a comprehensive strategy to face the future trade challenges. Producers require to prepare themselves for trade-related contingencies which if not attended properly, may eat into their market share.
