Amaya - a revolutionary embroidery innovation

Every so often, an entire industry is transformed by a single innovation. The microwave did it for the appliance business. Velcro altered the tape and fastening market. And the Internet is rapidly changing the entire way we communicate. Once again, Saurer Melco sets the pace for the entire industry with the introduction of Amaya.

Amaya is much more than a machine. She’s an embroidery automaton… a robot with human-like qualities. What she can do for you is amazing.

Amaya features modular configuration... from one head to thirty and any combination in between, and Amaya significantly improves thread tension with Acti-Feed. Introducing Amaya, the new spirit of embroidery. The art and science of embroidery will never be the same.

At first glance, Amaya looks different from any other professional embroidery system. Her sleek lines and stylish design are only a precursor to what’s waiting under the hood.

Modularity

Amaya can be used as single head machine, or as a total system of up to 30 heads. The Ethernet networking capabilities allow each head to operate synchronously from a single software interface. Configurations can be easily changed at any time to adjust to your workflow.

Thread Tension with Acti-Feed

Amaya’s patented Acti-Feed Thread Tension delivers thread from the spool to the garment with precise control, stitch after stitch, even at the highest operating speeds. Amaya’s thread tension and delivery are calculated for each stitch, and set by three individual parameters per needle. This precise control means faster speeds, a softer embroidery, fewer thread breaks, and a more consistent sewing quality.

16 Living Colors

Amaya offers a full palette of 16 thread colors - the most available today. With more available thread colors, setup time is less than ever. And Amaya’s maximum speed can be defined by color, in order to optimize for individual thread types.

Laser eye

Amaya is the first to feature a laser eye for tracing and positioning. It makes the design setup fast and easy, and assures accurate placement throughout the sewing process. The laser eye is activated automatically during operations like manual jog and tracing, or the operator can manually activate the eye with the press of a button on the fast key pad.

Thread break monitor

Amaya features an extraordinary thread break monitor that electronically detects breaks or spool ends. When a break occurs, the other heads in a multi-head system stop in place. Only the affected head backs up to the break point. This prevents embroidering over previous patterns and other quality problems associated with ordinary machines.

Height adjustable presser foot

The patented height adjustable presser foot makes it easy to adjust to different fabrics. You can manually lower the dead point of the presser foot in the range of 0.5mm to 3.5mm above the needle plate, without tools.

Safety grabber

The safety grabber is designed as both a needle guard and grabber to prevent needle accidents while putting the thread in a defined position after trimming. The grabber also reduces the chances of a non-active thread falling out of the clamp.

High speed pantograph

All of the structural and moving parts are located above the garment, virtually eliminating the possibility of the material getting caught by the pantograph. The optimized x/y-beam with carriage means precise positioning when embroidering at high speeds.

Convenient accessories and options

Amaya has a larger sewing field than any embroidery system in its class to handle nearly any customer request. Amaya’s list of convenient accessories include a Wide Angle Cap Frame with an extra wide 270 angle for nearly any hat application; an optional tabletop and tubular framing system; and optional spider hoops.

Edit
Gearing up for future contingencies
It is high time that the domestic industry formulate a comprehensive strategy to face the future trade challenges. Producers require to prepare themselves for trade-related contingencies which if not attended properly, may eat into their market share.
