Lycra Soft enhances soft stretch with renewed comfort

The Lycra Soft family of yarns (T906M - T902B - T906C) add benefits to a broad range of garments, from pantyhose, knits and shapers to the heavier weight raschel knits, narrows, waistbands, knee highs and sock tops.

Lycra Soft yarns have been developed to enhance soft stretch with renewed comfort to find application in a wide range of products. All Lycra Soft variants deliver softer stretch and good runnability.

Lycra Soft T906M has been specifically developed to combine comfort and different levels of support in pantyhose. In a recent wear test, three out of four women preferred the pantyhose made with Lycra Soft, especially women in the upper end of the size range. The women expressed a feeling of reduced fatigue at the end of their workday.

Lycra Soft T906B gives new freedom of motion to make workouts more comfortable. By reducing pressure on the body by 40 per cent, Lycra Soft advances the cause of active comfort. When the focus is on freedom, for active sportswear and certain types of intimate apparel, Lycra Soft T906B, designed for use in warp and welt knits, accommodates extreme movement without restraint as it maintains garments’ original fit and appearance. This bright luster yarn offers a better, more consistent fit across a greater size range, improved heat-setting efficiency and chlorine resistance.

Lycra Soft T902C is designed for raschel fabrics and garments that rely on gentle shaping to enhance a feeling of well-being. This clear luster yarn offers potential yield improvement and superior chemical and thermal stability.

Chlorine/mildew resist engineered to resist the ravages of chlorine and mildew

Earlier this year at Lycra Rendez-Vous, DuPont previewed T909B, a revolutionary new Lycra swimwear product, to fabric mills and manufacturers. T909B is designed to deliver unsurpassed durability for high-use, competitive swimwear. Lycra developed T909B for competitive water sports, where maximum elasticity, durability and chlorine resistance are essential. Initial wear trials have shown that Lycra T909B will help swimwear keep its body-hugging fit for longer and without breaking in chlorine-treated pools. Lycra in swimwear also resists the effects of mildew, which can result from leaving a wet suit for too long in a warm, enclosed space.

T163C for socks: A good investment for quality socks

Those who choose socks containing Lycra get more than simply a special kind of yarn, colour or pattern, they get exceptional comfort and durable wear. Adding as little as 2 to 3 per cent of Lycra to cotton or wool allows socks to acquire these characteristics.

To provide the best value for quality socks, DuPont offers Lycra T163C in 20 decitex for all constructions, which contributes superior staying power and optimised stretch and layout. Lycra T163C assures superior wear, comfort, excellent size stability and uniform appearance. Lycra allows socks to retain their shape when ironed, guaranteeing the best retail presentation to consumers.

Socks with Lycra retain their size and shape after repeated wear and laundering. Lycra T163C gives sock garments unprecedented levels of comfort and fit while retaining the touch and feel of the natural fibre blend.

Edit
Gearing up for future contingencies
It is high time that the domestic industry formulate a comprehensive strategy to face the future trade challenges. Producers require to prepare themselves for trade-related contingencies which if not attended properly, may eat into their market share.
