Elgi Electric - Adding and protecting value in yarn

Elgi Electric is synonymous with the Indian textile industry. For over three decades, the company has been designing and developing products that add value to the quality of yarn. The company is founded on the core principles of providing superior solutions to emerging markets needs. This has helped the company to constantly upgrade its technology and improvise its product range, depending on consumer requirements.

Over the years, Elgi Electric has created a niche for itself in the market, by offering value-added solutions through technical collaborations with world leaders. The company’s products have won worldwide acclaim for their international quality standards and cutting edge technology. An ISO 9001 certification only stands testimony of the mark the company has made for itself in the engineering and textile industry.

Elgi Electric, which pioneered the concept of OHTC in collaboration with M/s Ernst Jacobi GmbH, is today a market leader in its segment and the name Elgi Electric is now generic with overhead travelling cleaners. OHTCs form an integral part of the textile industry - be it spinning, speed frame, ring frames or weavers. The product is custom-built to suit every need of the customer, be it straight-line, curved or circular path.

Elgi OHTCs, installed in a large number of units, are adding value to yarn in more than 25,000 spinning machines, 10,000 post-spinning machines and over 1,000 weaving machines across India and other countries including Iran, South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Vietnam, Turkey, Egypt, Kenya, Indonesia, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

In it’s constant endeavour to add value to the quality of yarn and enhance productivity, the company designed and developed a new product CENVAC (Central Cleaning System). CENVAC is a single point centralised cleaning system that not only removes the drudgery of heavy cleaning equipment across the shopfloor, but also enhances quality through specially designed nozzles that help clean difficult to reach areas. A single stage high vacuum pump fitted with suction pipe arrangements that run through the trench in the required area are provided with flap gates at strategic locations. The sensor fitted at the flap gates activate the system when the suction nozzle attachment is inserted through the flap gates. It also comes with an overload protection that ensures safety of the system. Better fluff and dust removal results in better productivity.

Keen understanding of the market needs coupled with textile engineering excellence has led to yet another product being launched by the company in the new millennium. The company in technical collaboration with Welker of Germany introduced a new concept in yarn conditioning. Few years down the line the company improved this technology and then introduced Profix Yarn Conditioning System. The objective of yarn conditioning is to restore the natural properties of yarn like moisture content and to improve the strength and elongation. The system adopts a unique design with the separate energy vessel outside the conditioning chamber for producing cold saturated steam. This ensures upto 95 per cent vacuum level in order to gain uniform moisture content in the yarn. Apart from this major benefit, there are a host of advantages that the Profix Yarn Conditioning System offers. And within a short span of less than three years, over 50 Yarn Conditioning Systems have been installed in various locations in the country and across the globe.

Market potential seems very encouraging in countries like Bangladesh, Indonesia, Nepal, Kenya, Tanzania, Egypt, Iran, Mauritius, Thailand and Sri Lanka. Besides value-addition to yarn, the company has a range of products that offer value protection. These include quality spark and metal diversion systems which help in diverting sparks, ferrous and non-ferrous metal, thereby helping to maintain peak productivity and prevent loss of material and equipment. At ITMA 2003 to be held in Birmingham, UK, Elgi Elecric will have on display a wide range of products including Profix Yarn Conditioning Systems and different models of OHTCs at Hall no 2 Stand SP 2 3C.

Elgi Electric has always been an active participant in various textile machinery exhibitions in India and abroad. At these exhibitions, in addition to its own stalls, Elgi Electric also complements various OEM stalls with its products. This gives visitors an insight into the actual working of the various products.

Edit

Production of appropriate machinery
Though the domestic textile engineering sector has made some recovery in the recent months, there is still a long way to go
