International Congress tackles new products and technologies for the technical textiles and nonwovens industry at Techtextil

In parallel with Techtextil South America 2003, the Techtextil Congress South America will be held in Sao Paulo from November 11-13. The event is directed at manufacturers, end users, students, professionals and technicians of the technical textiles and nonwovens industry. The programme of the upcoming Techtextil Congress South America 2003 includes a broad technical and marketing approach to the technical textiles and nonwovens sector, highlighting the new products and technologies developed by the greatest specialists and companies within this sector.

Professionals of the automotive industry will have the opportunity to attend the lectures “New Textile Materials for Acoustic Absorption in Vehicles of Transport” and “New Trends of Technical Textiles for the Automotive Industry”. These are two important topics for this sector, which shows a very high potential use of technical textiles and nonwovens in substitution to conventional products.

Another focus will be on the industrial sector, with lectures of high interest ranging from “Main end uses of high tenacity and low shrinking polyester” to “Textiles for PVC Finishing for outdoors and facades” and “Innovations in polyamide threads and fibers for nonwovens”. The medical and hygiene sectors, other important segments of the market, will be highlighted by several technical lectures such as “Elastic Structures: advances in adhesive collage” and “Nonwovens: the new generations for disposable hygienics”.

The congress will also discuss issues of particular interest to professionals of the protection sector in the following topics: “Special Finishings in Technical Textiles”; “Thermal Protection: raw materials, essays and end uses” and “Techniques for the application of silicon coatings in textiles”.

New market opportunities will be presented by the lectures “Nonwovens in Agriculture: gateway to healthier nourishment” and “Evolution of the cellulosic fiber for the technical textiles and nonwovens market”, among other topics highlighting state-of-the-art applications of technical textiles and nonwovens. “Development of One’s Own Brand in Retail”, an issue that has been revolutionizing the concepts of the great retail networks, is the title of a lecture developed by ABRAS - Brazilian Association of Supermarkets - especially for the Congress, emphasizing the market of disposable and durable hygienics. ABNT - Brazilian Association of Technical Norms - , represented by the supervision board of their Textiles Committee, will discuss “Normalization and quality: Bases of to the Consumer Defense Regulation”; and IPT - Institute of Technological Research -, University of São Paulo, participates with the lecture “Exporting through the Progex - Program of Technological Support for Exportation”.

The Techtextil Congress South America, held at the ITM Expo in Sao Paulo from November 11-13, 2003, will enjoy the presence of both Brazilian and foreign professionals who are specialized in technical textiles and nonwovens. This is a sector that in Brazil invoices more than USS 1 billion per year.
