Serena Williams’ first brush with haute couture

ANI, London

Wimbledon champion Serena Williams has a new vocation other than playing tennis. Serena roped in her friends and family members into modeling for her first ever trip in the world of haute couture, according to PeopleNews.

“I just did it for Serena, otherwise I’d be way too shy,” revealed Serena’s sister Venus after stepping down from the catwalk at the charity event. Half-sister Lyndrea and close friend, Brandy were also seen sashaying on the ramp in clothes designed by Serena. Williams has been attending fashion designing classes in between tennis practices and gets creative ideas by reading fashion magazines. The tennis sensation says, “I like to do something while my career is still hot. There’s plenty of time after my tennis to definitely go fulltime fashion, when I have arthritis and all that fun stuff.”

Garmenting growth
Even as the International Textile Manufacturers Federation at its recent annual conference has recognised garment as the fastest growing commodity among all the manufactured items, the exports of the same from the country have shown a declining trend of late.
