E-Tex Staff, Mumbai

The four textile research associations, Ahmedabad Textile Industry Research Association (ATIRA), South India Textile Research Association (SITRA), North India Textile Research Association (NITRA) and Bombay Textile Research Association (BTRA) will be organising the 45th Technological Joint Conference in February 2004. The conference will be hosted by BTRA in Mumbai, which also coincides with BTRA’s 50 years of service to the industry.

The papers to be presented at the conference will be based on the recent R&D trends and topics to be discussed will include those of immediate importance to the industries in all major textile areas. The following technical papers are scheduled to be presented and discussed during the two-day conference.

ATIRA:

  • Economical solid waste management in the industry
  • Intelligent yarn grading and fabric simulation computerised system
  • Improving quality of low micronaire Indian cottons
  • Development of a microcontroller-based production management information system for knitting industry
  • Combating Black Streak - A novel method using electrostatic precipitator (ESP)
  • Ambient temperature bleaching process with hydrogen peroxide for hand processing sector

BTRA

  • Source reduction in effluent load during desizing of cotton fabric and weight reduction of polyester fabric
  • Textile with anti-microbial activity - A newer concept
  • Performance level of modern spinning mills in India to meet the global challenge
  • Conductive textiles for smart fabrics
  • Development of IT-based system to optimise performance of stenters in textile mills
  • Effect of chemical properties of raw cotton fibre on colour parameters of fibre dyed with reactive dyes

SITRA

  • Influence of ring frame and winding process parameters on extra-sensitive yarn imperfections
  • Application of artificial neural network for predicting ring yarn properties and process variables
  • A technique to measure drapeability of fabrics using image analysis
  • Economics of higher spindle speeds in ring frames in the context of rising power cost and reducing profitability
  • Design and development of a high performance autoleveller for drawframes - SITRA Micro Control
  • Development of an intelligent monitoring and information system for combers - SITRA CIM

NITRA

  • Development of UV resistant fabric
  • Application of IT for integrating organisation information to meet competitive business environment for textile spinning mills
  • Development of cost-effective positive feed indigenous mechanism for Lycra cord yarn production at ring frame
  • A new approach for dyeing acrylic yarn
  • Strategic steam flow balancing incorporating PLC based steam flow measurement system - An innovative and cost-effective technique
  • Critical assessment of some recovery scheme for recycling of textile waste water.

Edit
