Calling energy managers
BEE organises awareness training programmes for energy managers
Agencies
The Energy Conservation Act 2001 has come into force with effect from March
1, 2002. The act has been promulgated with a view to provide the necessary thrust
to energy conservation. Energy managers occupy an important position in any
organisation and are the focal point of all activities pertaining to energy
management in the organisation. They will have certain mandatory duties and
responsibilities that will be prescribed in the regulation with the act. Taking
into consideration the important role that an energy manager has to play in
reducing energy consumption, it has been decided that the necessary qualification
would be to pass a national level examination. At present there is limited awareness
in the industry about importance of energy management, the EC Act, roles and
responsibilities of energy managers, the requirement of energy audits, information
and data to be collected and reported to the government. The BEE is organising
awareness training programmes for the benefit of the industry to build up awareness
on these aspects.
The objectives of the training programmes include:
- Creation of awareness on the various aspects of EC Act.
- Discussing the duties and responsibilities of energy managers as per the
Act.
- Enlightening participants about the steps in achieving energy manager certification.
- Making industries understand the benefits of implementing the Act.
- Highlighting various energy conservation options in industrial energy systems,
equipments and appliances.
- Providing information on best practices in energy conservation; industry
energy accounting system; monitoring, evaluation and review of energy consumption;
energy audits and its benefits; standardisation of data formats.
