“We ensure satisfaction for our customers”

Vetri Engineers was promoted by Mr S Jayaprakash, a non-textile engineer, who worked in the oil and petrochemical industry in India and abroad. In less than 12 years, it has carved a niche in the market with quality products. The momentum has to take place to elevate India as a hub for spares, he says in an interview with Express Textile.

What is the present scenario is the textile spares market?

In the last 10 years, tremendous changes have taken place in the textile spares and accessories market. Today, the textile industry in other countries are looking at Indian spares to support and maintain their machines. However, India is facing stiff competition from emerging countries like China, Taiwan, Korea, Italy and few other developing countries. If Indian manufacturers commit themselves towards manufacturing and supplying right quality products at competitive rates coupled with quick delivery, reliable after-sales service and good relationship with customers, they can make a dent in the world market. Though I foresee huge potential for textile engineering products, the biggest challenge to the industry is the availability of raw material in time. To fuel our woes, there are other bottlenecks like poor infrastructure, high electricity, custom procedures etc. For instance, it takes only 24 hours for a manufacturer to ship products to the customers. In India, we cannot imagine of such thing. Despite technical capabilities and technological advancement, we have not improved due to these bottlenecks. In order to enhance the export share of textile engineering components from India, I strongly feel that cluster approach should be adopted.

Explain about your operations.

Vetri Engineers was established 12 years back with the sole objective of providing quality textile engineering goods to the textile industry. We have developed many textile engineering components and spares for machineries of European and Asian make. Most of the products are for the spinning industry. We have exported our products to more than 36 countries. We are equipped with good infrastructure, technical expertise and are capable of handling many types of engineering product not only for the textile industry but also for the other industries.

What makes your product stand out in the market?

Quality is the priority in our business and it is the mantra which has made our product excel in the market. We add value to the product, ensuring customer satisfaction.

How important is R&D in your business?

R&D is very significant in spare and accessory industry. We have to keep in tandem with the advancement in machine technology and manufacture spares that are compatible with the machine. For the purpose, we have digitally processing design data system and team of good engineers. We come up with new processes and systems so that the components can have better performance in the existing system.

Edit
Resolving infrastructure woes
Poor infrastructure facilities have been taking toll on the competitiveness of the domestic textile base.
