Garment Technology Expo - 2004 International at NSIC Exhibition Centre, creates history

E-Tex Staff - New Delhi

The myth has been shattered. Till very recently, New Delhi’s Pragati Maidan, India’s largest exhibition centre was considered the only place for holding world class international exhibitions. But the industry needed a more convenient venue. And in 2003 created superstructures in open grounds at NSIC Exhibition Centre, Okhla, for hosting the Garment Technology Expo, which was a success. This year again, the organisers improvised on the superstructures to make it of truly international standards and to create world class facilities for all participants and visitors.

The Garment Technology Expo - 2004 held recently was a huge success, in terms of participation, turnout and response. According to the organisers, the reason for this were:

  • Quality participation with latest and the most advanced apparel production technology on display;
  • New product launches by many exhibitors;
  • Much larger participation than earlier editions of Garment Technology Expo or any other exhibition for this industry held so far in India.

Over 800 companies showcased their products and services. “Our aggressive advertising campaign throughout the year created the right awareness to attract quality visitors. We had 23,000 trade visitors for Garment Technology Expo - 2004 International. Moreover, the venue was more easily accessible coupled with ample drive-in, parking facility in the garmenting hub of Okhla. The success of the 2004 edition of the fair once again proves the faith and trust of industry in us that we deliver more than we promise. We have created yet another history by receiving feedback through expression of interest forms for 117 per cent of the total space sold for the 2004 exhibition. For the 2005 exhibition, 96 companies have sent us the signed EOI forms already. We are gearing up to meet the additional space demand. This itself speaks for the extremely high volume of business done during the four days by exhibiting companies.” Garment Technology Expo - 2005 International is scheduled from January 21-24, 2005.

DEPB issue
The recent reduction in DEPB rate is going to further squeeze the margins of exporters who are already hard pressed to compete the global trade challenge.
