About the Feature

The domestic textile machinery industry has certainly shown some signs of revival in the past few months with improved demand from the user industry. The ongoing Technology Upgradation Fund as also other capital incentive schemes are expected to sustain this growth in the near future. Most of the players have started investing in upgrading their existing technology keeping in view the contingencies arising out of the post-MFA regime. Besides, there are additional capacities also in the pipeline in order to meet the growing demand of outsourcing.

This apart export market for Indian machinery and accessories holds a lot of potential. Exports of machinery have grown to Rs 406 crore in 2002-03 from Rs 156 crore in 1990-91, while machinery and accessories worth Rs 1175 crore was produced in the year 2002-03.
