Grasim Q1 net up 68% at Rs 219.2 crore

Grasim Industries, an Aditya Birla group flagship company, has posted a 68 per cent rise in its net profit at Rs 219.2 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2004 as against Rs 130.5 crore in Q1 of 2003-04.

The net turnover for reporting quarter rose by 30.4 per cent to Rs 1,517.1 crore as against Rs 1,163.4 crore in April-June 2004, the company said in a release here.

The revenues from fibre and pulp business in Q1 stood at Rs 495.42 crore as against Rs 379.43 crore in first quarter of 2003-04, the release said.

The cement business chipped in Rs 682.33 crore during the reporting quarter as against Rs 573.33 crore a year ago, it said.

The sponge iron division’s revenues almost doubled to Rs 249.95 crore as against Rs 126.42 crore, it added.
