Colorant posts 60% growth in first quarter

The Ahmedabad based reactive dyes and OBA manufacturer, Colorant, has posted a growth of over 60 per cent in the first quarter ended June 30, 2004 against in the first quarter of the previous year. The growth is achieved in terms of both, the turnover in rupees and quantity of dyes sold in kgs.

Mr Subhash Bhargava, managing director, Colorant, said that the series of efforts made by the company in the previous year are primarily responsible for achieving these results.

Firstly, the company launched an aggressive advertising campaign from February 2004, after they received an ISO 9001:2000 Certification through KPMG Quality Register for its all functional areas.

Secondly, the enhanced manufacturing capacity was available right from the beginning of the year in addition to the support of new QC and R&D laboratory. The cost cutting measures adopted by the production department helped marketing to face the competition.

Most significantly, the initiative have been taken by the company to strengthen the marketing team both the branches as well as the head office level. Colorant appointed the senior professionals to strengthen its marketing and technical service team during the year. This has proved successful in yielding good results by way of improved interaction with the end user and in keeping the agents network mobile.

Last but not the least, successful launching of new products during the year also helped in achieving the better sales volume. The company expects the same tempo to continue following the post WTO optimis with the domestic textile industries.

Presently, the company is in the process of completing its expansion projects to achieve a manufacturing capacity of 2400 mt reactive dyes per annum.
