Browzwear’s C-Me system

PAD system Technologies has integrated the Syfle-Cloth Simulator into its Haute Couture 3D software, to enable highly realistic cloth animation. The Syflex Cloth simulator plugs in to 3D animation software such as Maya XSI and 3D Max and is already being used by animation studios.

One of the biggest challenges faced by software developers dealing with the fashion industry is the fact that we are working with a fluid material, with totally different characteristics and properties depending on the type of fabric, which is then placed on a figure that is also not rigid like steel, glass or wood for example.

A number of 3D-visualisation software packages are available for the fashion industry. In terms of visualising individual styles, these include V-Stitcher by Browzwear (which has links with Gerber, Investronica and Tex-Data), OptiTex Runway and PAD 3D Haute Couture, for example.

Approval times can be shortened significantly through improved communication. Teams no longer have to wait for the garment to be cut, sewn, pressed and modelled before it can be evaluated. Plus, it is now possible to hold meetings via the Internet, where everybody involved in the project is looking at the same virtual sample. So it is no longer always necessary to have face-to-face meetings to evaluate, modify and approve a product.

Edit
DEPB debacle
The sharp reduction in DEPB rates on textiles has created a significant doubt in industry’s mind about government’s policy intention to help it prepare for the global challenges in the post-MFA regime.
Home textiles: A key driver for textile exports

After more than 40 years of import quotas, the textile and clothing sector will become subject to the general rules of General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) from January 1, 2005.
