Sensex crosses 6000 mark, sentiment bullish
The Sensex breached 6000 levels to close at 6025 points during the week ended Thursday, November 18. Though the journey to 6000 points was marked on the Diwali weekend, the Sensex finally closed above 6000 points during the week.

Clariant records sales of Rs 84 cr
Clariant (India), an affiliate of Swiss multinational, manufacturer and supplier of dyes and speciality chemical products for textile, leather and paper has recorded sales turnover of Rs 84 crore in the second quarter of current financial year 2004-05 against Rs 82 crore for the same period in the previous financial year.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has once again purveyed in its annual report for 2003-04, dubious cotton production statistics surprising almost every one who is interested in such information. This is bound to affect the report’s credibility.

Strategy for jute
The recent approval by the Planning Commission to set up a jute technology mission on the lines of the cotton technology mission, though late, but an apt move. The effort once implemented will go a long way in rejuvenating the jute sector which has so far been not successful in drawing the attention of policy makers.
