Schoeller India’s fashion show dazzles

Designer Ayesha creates metallic spark from outerwear fabrics

E-Tex Staff - Mumbai

If you thought metals were only for making pipes, tins or cupboards...think again! The fashion show organised by Schoeller Technologies India to celebrate its joint venture with Schoeller Switzerland proved that metals can be a part of your designer wardrobe and that too with panache. Designer Ayesha designed exquisite outfits from fabrics meant for outdoor activities like skiing, trekking, motor racing, etc. Ayesha is director in merchandising with Douceur Sportswear.

Speaking on the occasion, Ayesha said,”It was a different experience designing outfits from these fabrics. We did face difficulty in stitching these garments as the fabrics were very thick, had metal fibres, was stretching both ways and was reflective. But, I am enthralled to see the result which is worth every effort. These outfits look classy, have a rich sheen and are very durable which can be worn for any occasion.”

The specially choreographed fashion show had some of the leading models walking the ramp for Ayesha’s creations.

Strategy for jute
The recent approval by the Planning Commission to set up a jute technology mission on the lines of the cotton technology mission, though late, but an apt move. The effort once implemented will go a long way in rejuvenating the jute sector which has so far been not successful in drawing the attention of policy makers.
