Stretch your imagination with T-400 from Invista

T400 is the first of an entirely new class of fibres for apparel developed by INVISTA. These revolutionary new fibres are direct-use yarns that require no texturing or covering. Specially designed for applications that require low to moderate stretch, T400 provides greater, more durable stretch and recovery, plus a softer, smoother handle compared to the textured stretch yarns currently in use. T400 consists of newly developed multi-component yarns in which different polymers are joined together within each filament. When exposed to heat, each polymer shrinks to a different degree, producing a smooth helical crimp. Because the crimp is not mechanically induced, the stretch and recovery properties of T400 are greater and significantly more durable than those of textured yarns. One distinguishing feature is the regularity of the developed crimp that accounts for the improved aesthetics of fabrics containing T400.

In addition to its stretch and recovery properties, the T400 fibre has a unique cross-section that improves fabric breathability and moisture management. Fabrics and garments made with T400 that meet INVISTA quality certification standards can use either the LYCRA or COOLMAX.
