Ciba in strategic cooperation for global garment wet processing industry

Ciba Specialty Chemicals, Textile Effects Segment, has entered into a global cooperation agreement to market the garment wet processing products from the Hipochem range of Boehme Filatex Inc. USA. Boehme Filatex is an independent and flexible organisation represented worldwide in all important markets as a leading producer of chemicals for the production of textiles and leather. The arrangement allows Ciba Specialty Chemicals to produce under license and market Hipochem products worldwide, excluding NAFTA and the Dominican Republic.

"For the first time, a combination of extensive process knowhow and a wide range of products especially tailored for denim and other garments will be globally available to the garment and laundry industry. Ciba Specialty Chemical's global reach, market experience and sound product stewardship, together with Boehme Filatex's technology, extensive production and application knowhow, will help to bring novel effects to the market and ensure quality consistency worldwide," says Mr Eric Marohn, global head of Ciba Specialty Chemicals' Textile Effects Segment. The arrangement expands Ciba Specialty Chemical's activities in the garment wet processing industry and will allow global brands and retailers to benefit from the flexibility of global sourcing. The alliance offers the availability of identical products at a global level, which will mean that garments sourced in different countries can now have the same effects, thus ensuring quality and consistency of articles.

The cooperation will offer a wide range of products including auxiliaries, enzymes and silicone softeners, which provide unique finishing effects specially tailored to the requirements of the highly process-oriented garment industry with a special focus on denim.
