Corporate Update

New Projects

Sara Lee Apparel to increase retail presence
Riddhi Siddhi to produce denim grade starch

Sara Lee Aparel (India) which entered the country a year ago with its Hanes ComfortWear for men, intends to step up its retail presence.
From the current 2,500 outlets, the company plans to increase the number to 4,000 retail outlets in the next five years. Sara Lee with its Hanes brand competes with Indian brands like Rupa and VIP and foreign brands like Jockey.

Riddhi Siddhi Gluco Biols, which has recently acquired HLL's functional bio-polymer unit in Pondicherry, will use the unit to develop new starch-based products. The acquisition of this unit is a forward integration step for the company which plans to enter value-added product lines like denim grade starch. Starch and starch-derivatives represent a multi-billion dollar market globally.
