BTRA releases books on quality
The Bombay Textile Research Association (BTRA) has recently released books
on quality and operational benchmarks for modern spinning mills. According to
Mr A N Desai, director, BTRA, "Although India boasts of some very modern
and good spinning mills, there is an information gap pertaining to quality and
operational performance of the modern spinning mills. Therefore, BTRA undertook
a project to study in detail about the working of the most modern spinning mills
in India. Based on the studies, BTRA has brought out two publications separately
for modern cotton yarn spinning mills and modern blended yarn spinning mills,
which have been well received by the industry. As an offshoot to these publications,
now BTRA has released another publication viz, 'Quality and operational benchmarks
for modern spinning mills' based on experience of BTRA staff and studies in
the mills. It enumerates in detail about the benchmarks to be achieved regarding
quality and operational performance of the modern spinning mills. Quality is
built in at every step in manufacturing, and in this book, quality parameters
to be achieved at every stage is spelt out in order to achieve the end product
quality."
The publication 'Quality and operational benchmarks for modern spinning mills',
released in August 2005, is priced at Rs 400, plus postal and forwarding charges
of Rs 50. 'Global challenges vis-a-vis performance levels of modern blended
yarn spinning mills in India, released in May, 2005 is priced at Rs 350 plus
