TN govt gives go-ahead to wvg park

The Tamil Nadu government has given the go-ahead to the setting up of Cauvery Hitech Weaving Park, and has also released Rs 3.98 crore towards the project. The funds were handed over to Mr M S Mathivanan, chairman of the Cauvery Hitech Weaving Park.

Around 800 wide-width shuttleless looms, sizing and warping machineries will be installed in the park. The park will produce around 2 crore meters of fabric with the approximate value of Rs 300 crore and around 1,200 people will be employed. "This is an export thrust park wherein the fabrics produced will be of international standards," said Mr Mathivanan.

He further stated that ISO 9000 certification will be obtained for the park and all the units will be ISO 9000 certified. "We are also planning to establish a brand for the fabrics produced. As members of the park have become members of the Powerloom Development Export Promotion Council (PDEXCIL), the export promotion assistance will be provided from PDEXCIL for their exports. Many international buyers in the world are looking forward to the establishment of these parks for buying quality fabrics. The world renowned Carrera Holdings, Italy has already signed an agreement with the park for providing marketing assistance, financial assistance and technical assistance to the units in the park," informed Mr Mathivanan.

The park is being set up under the Textile Centre Infrastructure Development Scheme wherein central and state governments will grant 100 per cent funding for setting up the infrastructure facilities (for which Rs 3.98 crore has been released already) and the units will receive 20 per cent subsidy under the Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme for the machinery and 25 per cent subsidy under Group Workshed Scheme for the building construction.

"We are aiming at being the first park to commence operations, among all other textile parks that are in the pipeline,” he said.
