Digjam: Dressing the world

Digjam Woollen Mills, a unit of Birla VXL, an S K Birla group company, began its activities 55 years back in Jamnagar, Gujarat that presently has a worldwide presence and strong reputation. The ‘Techno Finish’ range introduced by the company recently is the latest in a series of innovations that it has taken to match international standards. Specially designed to compliment the Indian climate the “Techno Finish” fabric comes in four variants - Fragrance Techno Finish, Sheen ’n’ Shine Techno Finish, Odour Guard Techno Finish and Fresh ’n’ Freeze Techno Finish.

Monitoring of Design trends, seasonal fluctuations in style and constant development work enables Digjam to respond rapidly to market demand and buyer needs. Stringent quality checks at each stage of Production ensure that only the finest fabric gets to wear the Digjam label. This has earned it an ISO: 9001 Certification. The finest Italian, Swiss and Japanese machines finish the fabric to perfection.

The company has a completely vertically integrated plant located in Jamnagar that has ultra-modern production facilities to convert tops to finished fabrics through the processes of scouring and combing, dyeing, spinning, weaving and finishing. The machinery employed in these processes is state-of-the-art, imported from France, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium and South Korea. The present production capacity of around 20,000 meters of woollens per day is one of the highest in the industry. It is the first and only worsted mill in India to be awarded the status of “ACCREDITED MILL” from the internationally renowned DuPont. The plant is spread over 47 acres, has employee strength of 300 executives and a dedicated force of 850 workers. Exporting nearly 50% if its total production, Digjam textiles are now in use in the US, Canada, UK, Europe, Middle East, Japan, Italy and Australia.

Birla VXL has invested large sums in research and development to provide differentiation in all fundamental aspects such as fibre, design, texture, finish etc. With these initiatives, Birla VXL is all set to offer technological solutions at the 3000 plus outlets across the nation and in the international market.
